Wanda Laverne Maddux, 92, of Abilene, formerly of Hawley, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023, in an Abilene nursing home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Hawley Cemetery with Pastor David Sims officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.
Wanda was born November 15, 1931, in Eastland County to Luther (L.C.) and Mary (Wheeler) Jones. She was a founding and current member of Victory Baptist Church in Abilene. She worked many years in housekeeping. She worked for the Abilene State School and later for Hendrick Medical Center, until her retirement.
She is survived by her son, Dee L. Rounsaville, Sr. of Hawley; two brothers, Rubin Jones and wife Jennette of Abilene and Doyle Jones and wife Nina of Moran; sister, Edna Ruth Sims of Eula; four grandchildren, Raelynn Grant and husband Michael of Hawley, Dee Rounsaville, Jr. and wife Heather of Abilene, Steven Rounsaville and wife Debbie of Midland and Shannon Hayley and husband Kendell of Fort Worth; six great grandchildren, Courtney, Whitney, Jake, Jeremiah, Kera and Austin; seven great-great grandchildren, Kera, Zebdee, Brooklyn, Jordi, Analist, James and Hayley and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by two husbands, D. Rounsaville and Jimmy Maddux; son, Joe Rounsaville; two brothers, Muland and Houston Jones and sister, Vuna King.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to Victory Baptist Church, 4810 Jarman St. Abilene, Texas 79601.
