Obituary

Samuel Wayne Drummond, 73, of Abilene died Friday, February 5, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Wayne was born October 14, 1947 in Ballinger to Samuel and Thelma (Hechler) Drummond. He attended schools in El Paso and Abilene. He served his country in the U. S. Army during Viet Nam. Wayne worked in the oilfield for many years and was a member of the Pentecostal Church. He married Nita Vinson in Baird on November 12, 2010.

He is survived by his wife Nita Drummond of Abilene; children, David, Billy, Amanda and Amber; son William Quinn and wife Sarah of Stamford; two sisters, Ruth Carter of El Paso and Lena May of Ballinger; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Christina, Tristan, Michael, Racie and Raymond and his niece, Charlotte Cunningham and husband Jonny of Arizona and many other relatives and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Deseree Perry, two brothers, William and Marvin Drummond and three sisters, Florene Tinney, Bertha Cravins and Sammy Mills.
