Obituary

Wendell Winston Farmer, 96, of Abilene died Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in a senior care center in Stephenville. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Eula Cemetery with Chaplain Kathi Edwards officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Wendell was born September 10, 1922 in Eula to Julian Lester and Elmira (Jones) Farmer. He graduated from Eula High School and attended Ranger Junior College. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He flew airplanes from the age of 18, after the war, he became an airline pilot working for five different airlines, retiring from Pan Am in 1982. He served on the Clyde City Council and was active in the community. His first wife Rosa Lee Ryan preceded him in death. He later married Tommye Ann Stoker Farmer in Eula. He was a member of the Abilene Bible Church.

He is survived by his son Sidney Clark Farmer of Greenville, South Carolina; three daughters, Phyllis Kathryn Laney of N. Richland Hills, Sharon Lee Clackum and husband Carl Terrell of Cumming, Georgia and Lynn Brown and husband Stan of Bluff Dale; three sisters, Nell Henderson of Weatherford, Mid Pillans of Lubbock and Norma Barton of Baird; five grandchildren, Barry Brown, Ashley Laney, Stephanie Laney, Andrew Farmer and Hannah Farmer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Lee, his second wife Tommye Ann and three brothers, Leonard, Julian and Jack Farmer.
