Wesley Dean Acklin, 83, of Clyde passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, in an Abilene hospital. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with David Peterson officiating. A visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Wes was born August 11, 1941, in Van Nuys, California to "Ike" Dreaden and Nellie Ione (Watts) Acklin. He graduated from Hamlin High School and served in the US Army from 1959 until 1962. He married Priscilla Dixon in Abilene on August 26, 1972, and moved to Clyde in 1978. Wes was a U.S. Postal Carrier from 1965 to 1992 and owned and operated Acklin Photo from 1980 to 2010. Acklin Photo was a business that paid the bills, but dad truly enjoyed being behind the camera and capturing the perfect picture. He took youth sports team photos for years and was always so patient and kind to the kids.  He was a member of the Clyde Church of Christ. He served on the Clyde City Council, was Clyde Mayor Pro Tem, he served as president of the Clyde Little League and was a board member for the First Priority Credit Union. He was also involved in many ministries with the Clyde Church of Christ and was a state delegate for National Association of Letter Carriers.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Priscilla Acklin; two sons, Matt Acklin and wife Keely and Scott Acklin, all of Abilene; one daughter, Georgeanne Self of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Billy Acklin and wife Faye of Pisgah, North Carolina and Mike Acklin and wife Donna of San Angelo; two sisters, Vickie Moskwa and husband Bill of Durant, Oklahoma and Lanna Adams and husband Mike of Albany, Georgia; three grandchildren, Justin Tabor and wife Haley, Kyera Smith and husband Matt and Stephanie Davidson and husband D.J., all of Abilene; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ricky Acklin; one sister, Paula Acklin and his beloved dog, Strutz.
