Wid Kirk (Buster) Hyer, Jr., 84, of Eula died Saturday, April 20, 2019 in an Abilene hospice center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Eula Cemetery with Bro. Larry Adams officiating, assisted by Guy Workman, Sr. Visitation will be on Sunday from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.
Buster was born October 12, 1934 in Sweetwater to Wid K. Hyer, Sr. and Della (Barnes) Hyer. He attended school in Big Spring. Him and his brother both enlisted in the U.S. Army at the same time, he was stationed in Okinawa. He married Joy Cline in Las Cruces, New Mexico on February 6, 1973 and they moved to Eula from Freeport in 1980. He worked for Bandag as an electrician for over 15 years. He was a member of the Eula Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Joy Hyer of Eula; four children, Al Dean Florida and wife Megan of Wichita Falls, Dusty Ray Hyer and wife Staci of Eula, Theo Hyer and wife Debra of Lubbock and their family and Theresa Hyer-Hicks of Lubbock and her family; grandchildren, Sgt. Kelly Dean Florida and wife Katelynn, Sgt. Dylan Florida and wife Presli, Dalton Florida, Summer Florida, Natalie Avalos, Nick Avalos, Kylee Hyer, Mason Hyer, Samantha Hyer, Rodney Hyer, Sabrina, Josh, Dusti, Cathy and other grandchildren; one great grandson Kameron Florida and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Buster was preceded in death by his son Kelly Lee Hyer in 1991 and 14 brothers and sisters, he was the last of 15 children.
