Willie Mae Grider Looper, 89, of Baird died Saturday, March 9, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Clyde with Dr. Toby Henson officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Romney Cemetery near Cisco. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Willie Mae was born November 17, 1929 in Cisco to William (Doc) Mitchell Brown, Jr. and Clora Mae (Munn) Brown. She worked as an LVN at the Throckmorton Hospital and in Eastland for Dr. 's Bulgrin and Alexander. She later worked for US Brass for 17 years, retiring in 1994. She has been in the Callahan County since 1970. She married John Looper on September 24, 1970 in Oklahoma, he preceded her in death on June 27, 1982. She later married Bordon L. Grider in Stephenville on September 24, 1983 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clyde.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Atkinson and wife Connie of Baird, Jimmy Dale Atkinson and wife Judy of Clyde and Mitchell Atkinson and wife Kelly of Brock; 11 grandchildren, Kelly Mitchell and husband Corey, Kaysi Gray and husband Scott, Courtney Odom and husband Brian, Tim Atkinson and wife Sarah, Amy Neuman and husband David, Tina Holcomb and husband Kris, Danny Atkinson, Michael Atkinson, David Atkinson and wife Pat, Sandra Waters and husband Jody and Anthony Atkinson and wife Julie; 18 great grandchildren, Brehnen, Alexandria, Rischelle, Hailey, Mackenzie, Keldyn and wife Cheyanne, Jaseton, Sam, Jake, Dylan, Camdyn, Chris, Jeremy, Tayler, Tori, Colton, Keaton and Jared and several nieces and nephews.
Willie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, John Looper and Bordon Grider and her sister Fern Hicks in 2007.
